Patricia Muncy received dialysis treatment at the Fresenius Medical Care center in Paintsville, Ky., on 1/12/07. Thousands of Kentucky retired teachers have had their Medicare enrollment replaced with Medicare Advantage administered by Humana. The move saves the state teachers' retirement system about $11 million. But some retirees are finding that their doctors don't accept the new insurance. Muncy, who lives in Inez, is one of these people. She is on dialysis and she has suffered vision problems, including blindness, in the past. Her eye doctor doesn't take Medicare Advantage, and at first, her dialysis clinic said they didn't either.
